Most of you, I’m sure, will have seen this gorgeous image of a very stylish Caribbean kitchen, but have you seen the rest of the house?
I first saw this house in Australian Home Beautiful magazine a few years back, and I still absolutly love it. For me it melds my ever growing love of Danish design and the stunningly beautiful and timeless tropical coastal island style – a heavenly, heavenly mix.
The beach house is in Marigot Bay, St. Barths and belongs to an amazing design duo Marianne Brandi and Keld Mikkelsen. Marianne is the creative spirit behind the soon to be launched Day homewares on their site day.dk and Keld is a fashion designer.
I just adore this whole house, it’s such a design classic providing endless inspiration everytime you look at the beautiful images.
The dining table was specifically placed here so that guests can enjoy the beautiful view, and what a view.
I love the contemporary hurricane lamps and the dark wood table.
Stunning mix of classic black and white with a spark of sunshine yellow – very fresh and welcoming, and how cute are those shutters?!
The master bedroom is the perfect balance of masculine and feminine.
The black and white neutral scheme is typical plantation style, but it’s not slavishly plantation and this is refreshing.
The modern take is both seriously stylish and elegant with real classic appeal.
I love the relaxed grandeur of this room.
It has all the perfect beach elements – baskets, comfy seating, simple reading lamps, beautiful throws and a cool, calm soft white background with natural materials.
The wet room is a great design lesson in keeping it simple, clean and stylish. Here white tiles punctuated with the dark window frames and dark wood vanity are classic Danish design traits. Note the absence of a bath, apparantly St. Barths has very little water.
The study layout reminds me of India Hicks small study in their Guest House.
A beautiful antique bureau offers lots of writing space and inspiration, simple island editions create character and interest.
Plantation chairs are a quick short hand to tropical style.
The other side of the kitchen. The dark mahogany units where made in Denmark. I love the black and white striped rug on the white floor, it’s graphic nautical cues anchor the dark cabinetry.
The relaxing pool room.
The house and pool – just beautiful.
Happy island styling
